About Hoong Ling

Welcome to this website on all about Hoong Ling where her world is filled with colours!

RECIPE OF Hoong Ling

She is born hearing impaired on the left ear and only recently found out she has just one kidney. What more, she went on to donate part of her liver to a 13-year old child dying of cancer. What recipe made this imperfect lady filled with colours of life?

Hoong Ling is the product of Mr. Chew Wah Chye and Mdm. Boi Yeow Har (her parents), with a little mixture of Mr. and Mrs. Au Kah Heng (her guardians after her parents divorced), a dallop of St. John Ambulance Malaysia (SJAM) and Persatuan Pemuda Negara Malaysia (organisations she joins), and most importantly, good to taste with the blessings of Buddha.

Hoong Ling's LIFE SO FAR

At the age of 5, her Dad told her that he was bringing her along to Teluk Intan for a "holiday". That "holiday" last for 16 years. Her parents actually divorced and since, her aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Au Kah Heng took care of her, with financial support from her father. During childhood, only one word can describe her - "NAUGHTY".

Hoong Ling's Secondary School Days

Many colours of her life came to live during secondary school days. While in SMK Convent, Teluk Intan, St. John was her prior concern and she even did less than expected in the examinations because she spent time mostly for St. John rather than studies. However, she never regretted this. Many successful stories took place during the last few years in secondary school. Being a dummy in sports and she played nothing in sports, she managed to bring her house to champion during Form 5 (she was elected the House Captain out of popularity)!! Doubling the annual St. John Flag Day collections amount in year 1997 was a success most proud of. In SMK St. Anthony, through Interact Club in the school, she did an Organ and Blood Donation Campaign in year 1999, gaining reputation around Teluk Intan and Kuala Lumpur. She was even featured in the newspaper because of the success in the campaign. Numerous articles written by her that were published in the newspaper were all regarding Organ Donation. Her passion and enthusiasm in Organ Donation cannot be deterred.

Hoong Ling's Spirits to Serve

The spirits to serve never leave her although she left school. She continued her service in St. John and expanded her wings to other organisations. Eventually, she is now elected the Vice President of Persatuan Pemuda Negara Malaysia (Malaysian National Youth Association). As former Honorary Secretary in the Student Council, she represented Informatics College to participate in the Majlis Perundingan Pelajar Kebangsaan (MPPK). Because of outstanding performance at MPPK, she was invited twice to be a panel speaker for the talk show aired over TV1, Bicara Siswa. Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) caught her in action and she was invited to join RTM to be a TV Presenter for the Selamat Pagi Malaysia informative talk show.

Actively participated in various organisations and with them, she also initiated organ donation awareness campaigns. In November 2006, she was also awarded the Selangor Youth Award in the category of Volunteerism. In year 2008, she was given the title Great Women of Our Time award by the Malaysian Women's Weekly magazine.

Hoong Ling Walks Her Talk
She continued to talk about organ donation but more to it she DID IT. In January 2009, she donated part of her liver to save a 13-year old child dying of cancer. Her story inspired many and eventually kicked off a wave of organ donation awareness campaign, led by her.

Hoong Ling Continues to Colour Lives
She previously held portfolios including the Operations and PR Manager of WOTCH Information Edge, Business Development Manager in Indonesia, a TV Presenter with RTM and full time volunteer with Lions CLub of CyberCare. She is currently full time working with XeerSoft Sdn. Bhd. as Executive Assistant to the Sales Director and Managing Director and organ donation projects.

Her active initiation of the Rukun Tetangga in her residence area in Pandan Jaya due to the recent crime rate has won the hearts of all residents, appointing her the Vice Chairman (since she decline the position of Chairman). She currently stays in Pandan Perdana therefore leaving the Rukun Tetangga in the hands of others.

Her upcoming project - a wave of I'M INPIRED to get people to ACT on signing pledge forms to donate organs after death. Hoong Ling is writing a book on her journey and will eventually help spread organ donation awareness.

Hoong Ling Emcees! and she speaks!
No one ever thought the emcee could be a Chinese! Speaking fluent Malay on stage with her witty script on her PDA. Awing almost all audiences as she starts with Malay, English, Mandarin and Tamil (even!), everybody could have been stunned by the time she invites the VIP to stage for a speech. By the time she finishes, many would have given a standing ovation.

Widely sought after in formal official functions, Hoong Ling normally emcees for organisations like Young Entrepreneurs of Malaysia, Young Malaysians Movement, National Youth Association, Malaysia Youth Council, St. John Ambulance national and state functions, constituency events of Members of Parliament and the list continues.... Contact her for more information and partnerships.

Hoong Ling also speaks her mind out when it matters. Independent thoughts with nuetrality as well as topics close to her heart, she has spoken for the Bicara Siswa talk show live on TV1, Malaysia Hari Ini talk show on TV3, Bersama Anita talk show on ASTRO, talk shows on Bernama Radio, international conference for Executive PA and also presented as a TV presenter on Selamat Pagi Malaysia for 2 years.
